Climate change and sustainability are linked to endeavors of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) to make people aware of their responsibilities towards building a sustainable life. As part of its mandate to promote energy efficiency and conservation, BEE has undertaken multimedia energy awareness campaign to inculcate the habit of conservation and sustainability.  The objective is to enhance awareness level amongst the public on energy efficiency and inform them about the virtues of adopting energy conservation. People are also made aware of the quality and standard issues of energy intensive appliances. The media campaign comprising electronic, outdoor and print medium was released through DAVP & NFDC as per policy of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Jingles like (“BUTTON DABAO BIJLI BACHAO”, EK LEHER. etc) video/audio spot was telecasted on Doordarshan, TV channels, FM stations and LED/LCD screens at various railway stations, metro stations, trains, buses and other public utility places across the country. The advertisements on energy conservation in Hindi and vernacular languages were also released in print media to promote labeling programme for LED, INVERTER AC, REFRIGRATORS, MICROWAVE and WASHING MACHINES etc. BEE also participated in the 9th Vibrant Gujarat India-17th to 22nd  January 2019 and CII exhibition at 3th February 2019 to 5th February 2019 at Pragati Maidan, to showcase various policies, achievements, programs, schemes and activities.

Print Media

BEE has published many publications for advertisements on energy conservation in Hindi and vernacular languages were also released in print media to promote energy conservation.

    Electronic Media

    The media campaign comprising electronic medium was released through DAVP & NFDC as per policy of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Electronic media refers to all means of sharing information, except the print media, such as radio, television, internet etc. BEE had shared many programs on electronic devices for the audience viewing and can be broadcasted to the wider population. BEE Jingles like (“BUTTON DABAO BIJLI BACHAO”, EK LEHER. etc) video/audio spot was telecasted on Doordarshan, TV channels, FM stations.(Link of all the audio/video/jingles/)

    • Video spots in business channels; - Video clips on energy conservation were shown in >900 cinema halls across the country.
    • Live/Talk Shows in Business channels:-
    • Radio Spots in FM:- 156 episodes of “BachatKeSitare” were broadcast on AIR FM Gold
    • Messaging through SMS/Internet:- To create awareness program on Energy Conservation Day successful a SMS circulated more than 70 lacs SMS in Public.

      Social Media

      Social media has had an enormous impact on creating awareness. Platforms such as Twitter, YouTube and Facebook are used to not only promote brands and advertise new products but also are effective media to propagate message of energy conservation

      Bureau’s web portals, Facebook, YouTube channel, Twitter Handle, Instagram were continuously updated to propagate message of energy conservation.

      • Recently we are planed a joint camping with PCRA a wall painting competition.
      • 100 nos. of bill boards in 20 nos. of cities were displayed containing messages of energy conservation.
      • Initially started a campaign for metro-branding in metropolitan city.

        Outreach Programs

        • Print, electronic and social media was used effectively for propagating messages on energy efficiency and its conservation.
        • 156 episodes of “BachatKeSitare” were broadcast on AIR FM Gold.
        • 100 nos. of bill boards in 20 nos. of cities were displayed containing messages of energy conservation.
        • Video clips on energy conservation were shown in >900 cinema halls across the country.
        • Exhibition, Radio spots/ jingles were broadcast on FM channels in all over India.
        • Bureau’s web portals, Facebook, YouTube channel, Twitter Handle, Instagram were continuously updated to propagate message of energy conservation.
        • Tableaux of Ministry of Power/ BEE on energy efficiency reached up to the final selection level for 26th January, 2018.

          School awarness Programme

          Students Capacity Building Program/ Student Awareness

          Ministry of Power, Govt of India, vide letter dated 17th May 2013, conveyed the sanction of the President of India for the scheme on Energy Conservation Awareness, Awards and Painting Competition for XII five year plan. The sanction entailed Student Capacity Building for Energy Efficiency under Awareness Programme. Other then general awareness, the specific were as under:

          • Inclusion of chapter on Energy Efficiency in school curriculum of State Education Boards and NCERT Books of 6th to 10th standards.
          • InclusionIntroduction of module on Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation in the syllabus/books of school education boards.
          • Training, skill up gradation of Teaching Staff, Energy Professionals and Technical Staff Development of Tip Sheet/fliers on energy efficiency for efficient use of utilities like pumps/boilers/heaters/chillers/fans etc.
          • Awareness Activities like Debates at ITIs/Diploma Engineering Colleges and Quiz Programmes at School level
          • Initiation/Replication/Strengthening of Eco/Energy Clubs

          State Designated Agencies (SDAs) were supported to implement awareness programs in their respective states.19states have established / Strengthen 2224 Energy Clubs in schools.
