Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) launched various campaigns to raise awareness about energy conservation among the public. According to the guidelines laid down by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, media campaigns through electronic, outdoor and print media were carried out through the Directorate of Advertising & Visual Publicity (DAVP) and the National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC). In order to create awareness about Energy Conservation and spread it among masses for wider coverage, BEE has undertaken several activities in Print, Electronic, Social, and Outdoor Media, which are listed as given below:
Print Media
BEE has been releasing advertisements in Newspapers to spread awareness and educate people about star rating of electric appliances. This helps in educating people more about the labels and their use. In addition to this, advertisements were also released pan India for announcing National Energy Conservation Awards (NECA) under the categories of Industry, Institution, Appliance, Building, Transport etc. Recognizing and rewarding industries, institutions, appliances, buildings, and transportation that demonstrate exceptional energy conservation practices encourages others to follow the suit.

Radio Program
To encourage people participation, BEE has been running “Bachat Ke Sitare - Dost Humare” sponsored radio programme of 15 mins each in 19 languages on All India Radio (FM GOLD and FM RAINBOW).By integrating messages on energy conservation in an entertaining way, the programme captured the attention and interest of a wider audience ,making the information more engaging and memorable.
Social Media
Social media provides a direct and interactive channel for organizations to communicate with the public and allows them to share information updates, and respond to queries, and concerns in real time. Social media platforms facilitate two-way communication, enabling organizations to gather public opinions, suggestions, and feedback.

Outdoor Media
BEE participates in various exhibitions across the country to showcase its schemes and promote energy efficiency and conservation. The exhibitions provide a platform for BEE to engage with a diverse audience, including industry professionals, policymakers, government officials, and the general public, to create awareness and disseminate information about their initiatives.
During the exhibitions BEE often features interactive displays, demonstrations, energy-efficient appliances etc. to engage visitors and provide them with practical knowledge about energy conservation. Various engagement activities like quizzes, selfie booths, games on energy conservation are also covered during the programmes.
School awareness Programme
Students Capacity Building Program/ Student Awareness
Ministry of Power, Govt of India, vide letter dated 17th May 2013, conveyed the sanction of the President of India for the scheme on Energy Conservation Awareness, Awards and Painting Competition for XII five-year plan. The sanction entailed Student Capacity Building for Energy Efficiency under Awareness Programme. Other than general awareness, the specific were as under:
- Inclusion of chapter on Energy Efficiency in school curriculum of State Education Boards and NCERT Books of 6th to 10th standards.
- Inclusion Introduction of module on Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation in the syllabus/books of school education boards.
- Training, skill up gradation of Teaching Staff, Energy Professionals and Technical Staff Development of Tip Sheet/fliers on energy efficiency for efficient use of utilities like pumps/boilers/heaters/chillers/fans etc.
- Awareness Activities like Debates at ITIs/Diploma Engineering Colleges and Quiz Programmes at School level
- Initiation/Replication/Strengthening of Eco/Energy Clubs
State Designated Agencies (SDAs) were supported to implement awareness programs in their respective states.19states have established / Strengthen 2224 Energy Clubs in schools.
Promotional Material
Bureau has been publishing many documents and reports for distribution among stakeholders and were also uploaded on the BEE’s website for wider dissemination. Some of the Regular publications are (1) BEE Line (2) Annual Report (3)Bachat ke Sitare.
